Missouri Chapter Home
Thank you for your interest in donating to the Missouri Chapter of the Sierra Club.

The Missouri Chapter, with over 10,000 members and supporters, is our state's best all around protector of the environment. We empower Missouri citizens and communities to be bold in claiming their shared natural heritage.

Your donation is essential for the Missouri Chapter to achieve its priorities -- 100% of your gift to the Chapter is put to use in Missouri.

Priority Campaigns:
  • Clean Air & Energy: Promoting clean energy solutions while opposing more dirty coal-burning power plants.
  • Water Quality: Protecting the integrity of Missouri’s water resources.
  • Public Lands: Preserving and restoring forests, riverways and urban wildlands.
  • Livable Communities: Promoting sustainable communities and transportation choices.

We encourage citizens to be involved in democratic and regulatory processes within their communities and state-wide to ensure that public priorities like clean air and clean water are advanced over irresponsible corporate interests. We advocate for such basic principles as “polluter pays,” the public’s “right to know,” and “corporate accountability”: utilizing state-wide grassroots volunteers; by lobbying the state government and members of the Missouri General Assembly; by endorsing local, state and national political candidates; and by using legal tools, when necessary, to advocate for the protection of the Missouri’s environment.

As a truly grassroots organization much of the work of the Club is accomplished by volunteers. The Missouri Chapter has only three paid staff positions, including a lobbyist who is at the Missouri State Capitol nearly every day when the legislature is in session.

Financial support from folks like you who want to protect Missouri’s natural heritage is needed to ensure that we have the resources to:
  • Devote staff time to lobbying the Missouri legislature
  • Fund our priority campaigns
  • And to support those efforts by:
    • Increasing communication with our members;
    • Developing strategic coalitions
    • Implementing campaigns to hold elected officials accountable
    • And initiating litigation when necessary to hold businesses or government agencies accountable to the law.
Your financial support means a great deal Sierra Club and to Missouri’s future.
